I've only been working with photography for a few years and sometimes I like to go back and reprocess images with newer techniques I've learned.
Recently through a few instruction videos I've learned quite a lot in the post processing realm. I think this image is beginning to take on the characteristics of the moment it was captured.
I had been driving around Badlands N.P. waiting on sunset when this storm began moving in from the west. I pulled over at the nearest place that I could find - which is the pull out at the National Grasslands and set up. It was quiet except for the wind rustling the grasses and the sound of distant thunder. It was one of those moments you want to go back and revisit in your mind as often as you can.
Images like this are spiritual for me. I'm usually there talking with God while the scene unfolds - thanking him for the opportunity he has given me to capture it. My Badlands photos will always be special to me because my Dad wanted to go there but never had the chance. He passed away unexpectedly in 2013 and I'm thankful he was able to visit there through my photographs before he passed.
